Dansko alternative?

Like most clergy chicks, I love me some Danskos. They keep me aligned so I can walk around all day without my back or hips hurting. I've got crazy flat feet, so I enjoy their arch support, too.

However, the Dankso is not an elegant shoe. When I heard about Earth shoes, I was pretty excited. Good arch support, "negative heel technology" (read: Your heels sits lower than the ball of your foot which is supposed to enhance posture and burn calories. Woohoo!) Even better, they are slightly less clunky than Danskos. They are no Jimmy Choos, but I think this style (Pirouette 2) is pretty cute. You can also by many of their shoes in leather-alternative. (Though I sacrificed part of a cow for mine.)

I've only had mine about a day, but they felt great. They run a little big, so shop accordingly. You can buy them at Zappos and hippie-type stores.

They've got buckets of styles, some in super cute red patent leather.

I learned quickly how important it is for me to get rubber soled shoes, especially since my chancel has hardwood flooring and during the no-music early service I'm sure I'm interrupting someone's prayers when I'm click-click-clicking around the altar. I was just checking out Zappos for some new church shoes and now I've got some good tips! Great blog - its about time we rise up against Almy. I swear, on the one long-sleeve I have the bottom button comes just above my naval. How little do they think we are?

Thanks to Sarah K. on peacebang's blog for pointing me here!

Hi, and welcome to RevGalBlogPals! I'm UCC and never wear a collar, but I'm sure there are many in the ring who will be eager to join this conversation.
On the negative heel, for me it led to plantar fasciitis and an order to start wearing shoes with a heel. Who knew?

Greetings and welcome to RVGP. Love the whole idea behind this site. Even though I rarely wear a collar - mostly just to inner city meetings on the based on the theory that a collar is as good as Kevlar - figuring out what a clergy woman should wear is a discussion worth pursuing. :-)

Of course, there's the whole issue of the lack of pockets in women's clothing. Where am I supposed to put my microphone battery pack on Sundays if there's no pocket in my robe or in the clothes I wear under it? A weekly struggle.

Earth Shoes? I thought they disappeared after the 1960s! Unfortunately, I couldn't wear them then, either.

I have the Giselle, too, and I love them. I hardly wear anything but Dansko these days. They have some nice dressy styles, too.

There is also a great brand of shoes from Israel called 'Naot' which are lovely and sooooo comfortable.

CollarThis would like to invite Peacebang to expand upon the thoughts behind her worried countenance. As CollarThis is a forum and not an advice column, we take all points of view without (excessive) judgment. :)

Aaak. I am now paranoid that we have displeased the goddess of all things clergy wear, Peacebang. I do hope she knows that we are not trying to steal any thunder and are primarily concerned with the dilemmas the collared-set face. We have neither the wit nor the energy to maintain as hilarious and helpful a blog as she.
